Peak db is the decibel level reached upon maximum sound energy on the distortion threshold. This is usually reached on high shrieks and subwoofer thumps.

Rolling db is the decibel level average between shrieks and thumps.

Are you sure you are running 1200 watts? How many ohms then? At the standard 4 ohms and 1200 watts, you'd be destroying your alternator. You'd never be able to reach the clarity/distortion threshold without draining your battery and prematurely killing your alternator. How many channels are you running?

My alternator finally went this winter because of my Alpine system. The amp was just DRAINING the battery. It got to the point where the alternator just conked. I am running the underrated Alpine MRV-F357 which comes in at around 800 watts. As most car audiophiles know, some companies underrate, and other over rates. Alpine ALWAYS underrates. So assuming I'm running a little over 800 watts at 4 ohms and I can siginificantly shorten the life of my alternator, you couldn't possibly be running 1200 watts at 4 ohms, without a second battery, cap and maybe even stock alternator.
