Re: Diamond and Eclipse? 850 1995

If you are running the 33240 for 6 speakers, I am assuming, the amp being a 2/1 channel amp, you are running it in stereo.

According to the specs on the page you provided, the amp only puts out 130W x 2 Channel 0.1% THD at 4 ohm Stereo.

This means you total wattage for your speakers minus the subs is 260W. Which means each speaker is getting an average of 43.3W.

And your subs are running off of the 33230.

This puts out 130W x 2 Channel 0.1% THD at 4 ohm Stereo, 20-20,000Hz@13.8V (RMS Continuous Power. This amp cannot run at 8 ohms, so it must be 4 ohms. Meaning each sub is getting 130W.

This means your total wattage is 520W plus the internal DSP amp for the central channel. By center channel, I am assuming the kind used in surround sound systems. And either way, unless you are running over 500W through your center channel, you are NOT running 1240W. I know of no center channel speakers that can run 500W. I am 99% sure you are running 40-60W through the center channel and DEFINETLY less then 100W.

I believe you confused the 4 ohm ratings with the 8 ohm ratings for your amps. And trust me, your speakers and definetly your subs are NOT running 8 ohms.

I'm sure your sound system sounds great. Good quality speakers with high efficiency and low sound:noise ratios with a clean amp and well insulated wiring with sound absorption material and cross overs will make any car sound awesome. After 400 watts, there is only volume and clarity at high volumes to gain, nothing more. And you are already beyong that 400W.

From the set-up described and the product information you provided, I'm sure it sounds great. But I don't think you are running 1240W. According to the information on the sites provided for the products you are running, you are pumping about 520W plus centre channel, which is almost definetly under 600W, or about half of what you thought it was running.

I myself listen to almost everything under the sun. And sometimes, I want the car to scream me deaf and thump hard enough to feel air gust over my head from the 855T trunk.

My amp as rated by Car Stereo Review's Mobile Entertainment, rated the amp at 114W x 4 + 345W, all at 4 ohms for a total of 801W at 4 ohms. I am at the charging limit of the 855T without a second battery and/or high capacity alternator. I am still not running a capacitor. To negate the need for a capacitor, I just can't run at higher volumes at idle. If I do, the head lights and dash lights dim with the beat. Sometimes I get warning lights going off, but I haven't since I realized that my car's electrical system can't take it. I burned out the alternator in about 2 years this last winter after getting the 2 Pioneer Premier Subs. Not bad considering the alternator went through about 6 years of Canadian winters with the last two years having to work as hard as it did. I was originally running a 10" PPI which literaly blew continuity from getting 345W. It was rated at 350RMS and the amp just tore through it. As long as I don't blast the system at idle for too long, I shouldn't have a problem with the new alternator. I am predicting it'll last for about 4 years.

Where abouts are you? I'd love to here your system. I am a big fan of car audio with clarity over volume/bass. I'm sick and tired of all the idiots that go for straight out volume that end up sounding like *hit even at low volumes.
