Strange Brake Light Problem S60 2007

My wife's S60 has suddenly developed a strange issue with the brake lights.

The auxiliary brake light in the back window stays on while the key is in the ignition, and neither the left or right brake light will come on. It appears that the auxiliary brake light is not in "brake" mode, but more like it thinks the headlight switch is on. Hard to tell though.

The message on the dash simply says, "CHECK STOP LAMP".

In addition, once the key is turned off, auxiliary brake light will stay on for about 3 minutes and then turn off. I don't always remember that being the case, but maybe that's normal.

I've checked the fuses and all seem to be fine. I've also removed the brake light switch at the pedal and checked it for polarity. It also seems fine. Bulbs check out fine.

I had a similar issue with a V70 a while back and a simple replacement of the brake relay fixed the issue. However, I can't find that this S60 has one. Does it? The panel in the trunk doesn't seem to have any relays on it. Just fuses.

Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance.
