ETS light V70-XC70

I don't see a label as such on the throttle body, but there is the remains of what looks like yellow paint. I called the dealer and he was very surprised when I told him that cuise control was working fine, as a ETS fault usually cuts off cruise.
I see on Fleabay OBDII readers from TOPTAK, models TP180, TP280 and OT680, all claiming to read all NA and European cars of 1996 + vintage. Has anyone tried one of these models? or recommend one?
