Replace CV boot w/o removing the joint 850 1995

I hope that someone might be able help me out with this question.

Not too long ago I remember seeing a post about a replacement CV boot that doesn't require removal of the joint. This is something that I would consider doing as one one of my driver's side boots on my car is looking old but the joint is still fine. Thinking this would buy me some more time before replacement. I'm concerned that winter driving might do it in. I would rather not replace one during a New England winter!

Thx,
J
