why am I always late? V70-XC70 1998

After about six months of careful watching and resetting, I'm bemused to report that the dashboard clock (yes, the digital one!) is *SLOW*! Mine is losing time to the tune of about three to four minutes per month. Now that I know not to trust it, I don't much care about the clock showing the exact time, but I wonder...do any computer-controlled systems elsewhere in the car depend on the correct time? (i.e. not the correct moment in time, but the correct measurement of time) Weird -- I've never seen a wildly inaccurate digital clock before.
