Idle Valve Control Hums After Turning Car Off 850 1995

The idle control valve on my 1995 850 Turbo hums for several minutes after turning the car off. Concurrent with the appearance of this, the "check engine" light came on. Anyone know anthing about this & how long SHOULD the idle control valve hum for after the car is turned off?
