Re: Recommendations for Replacement Speakers V70-XC70 1998

Believe me you ... what you don't want are speakers with the quality of OEM. I recently overhauled my stereo including changing all speakers. The real questions are:

How much you want to spend?

What kind of music do you listen to?

This is what you're going to find on a 98 V70, in the front you need 6.5" components and in the rear, you need 6.5 " coaxials. As with a previous reply, almost anything you buy aftermarket is better than OEM. I took the OEM ones out and they are just made out of paper. Prices can range from $50 for a pair of speakers to >$500 pair.

I have one suggestion: if you don't need to change the rears, then whatever you can spend, spend it on the front components. Changing the rear makes very little difference but changing the fronts made an incredible difference. The highs are much more clearer with a replacement set of components. You get what you call imaging. I ended up with Phoenix Golds entry line, relatively cheap for components, very happy for the price. If you can afford the sky, I recommend Focal, even their entry line sounds incredible.

Have fun.
