hard starting V70-XC70 2001

You should never hear a noise when turning the engine off. To checck the upper mount, first visually check for cracks. Then with the car in park and engine off, hood up, rock the car a little and see if the mount gives a lot.

Check the lower mount by the crank gear (front of the engine), there should be good clearance between the crank and subframe.

Sounds like a typical first gen 5 speed automatic. Have the software checked at the dealer and sak about eliminating the shift to newutal when stopped and still in gear. Sometimes, the torque converter lockup does not disengage and your rpms will drop to almost zero when stopping - then the tranny unlocks and all is 'well.'

Is the dash temperature guage reading normal after 5 minutes of driving? A bum thermostat will make things rich.

You mean that you crank the engine for 10 seconds, or 10 turns to 'start'?
