Control Arm replacement - how many miles? 850 1995

I see the thread below about replacing control arms - I think mine are original. I am wearing through tires like crazy, and I think that it isn't holding alignment anymore. Three quick questions:

- if my goal is good alignment, what do I need to replace? Thinking control arms, and tie rods to steering, do I also need to do the ball joint at the end of the control arm? Maybe that's included.
- how long do these typically last?
- I see some places selling the BUSHINGS for the control arms. I suspect this is the hard way to do the job, but maybe not? Anyone done just the bushings and pressed them in/out of the existing control arms?

Thanks all! I don't think I helped the issue with the manual transmission swap . . . oh well. That's almost certainly contributing to the tire wear as well.
