EEbay sc-710 - turned out to disappoint - but weak rear speakers may not be its fault 850 1995

I got one on ebay for $5 plus $15 shipping and despite promise of 'good working order' I asked specifically if all 4 channels are working. My original sc-710 is down to 1 channel, the front left.

Well the cassette player doesn't work, motor runs but no sound. The radio reception seems to be better than my original. The two front speakers work. The rears are very weak. My old one was dead to the rears I believe. Any chance the speakers are to blame and not this new ebay unit. I don't want to bust the seller chops on the rear channels if it could be my speakers.
