Volvo Navigation System ALL 2001

I called Navtech--(www.navtech.com)who provides the map information for most vehicle-based systems worldwide. I wanted to know about ordering updated CD-ROM's. I was told Volvo tells them when to release updated versions of the North America Map CDs(there are 9 U.S., 1 Canada). I was told the next update will be released sometime in July, 2001. The lady told me each car manufacturer dictates to them how often to run updates(some car manufacturers have the data bases updated every 6 months). Volvo has made the decision that "their" maps will only be updated each July!

With the Volvo system, you get one "free" update of the "base map" you ordered to come with your car.--after that, it is $140/CD you order.

Has anyone had a NAV system long enough to have ordered updates? Are the updates worth getting for the price? Any comments on how you like your system? Any problems with this piece of sophisticated equipment?
