Alignment and tire issues - 2009 XC70 V70-XC70 2009

Hey all,

I have a quick Volvo question - it concerns my dad's newest Volvo, not one of my own. He recently had an issue with his (new-to-him) 2009 XC70 3.2, which he purchased a monthe ago. This car, with 42k miles, replaced his former 2003 XC70 2.5T, which is another story for another time. He was having quite a bit of issues with the alignment (it was pulling badly to the right), so what the dealership (The Volvo Store, Winter Park FL) did was replace the upper control arms and replace both of the front tires. However, they did not replace the rear ones. We have always been of the belief that on a complex AWD car such as an '09 XC70 3.2, all four tires must be replaced to prevent drivetrain wear. The shop told him he didn't need to replace either of the back tires. I told him to replace them ASAP. Who's right, the shop or me?
