1998 V70 defrost air velocity is too low V70-XC70

I have been test driving a 1998 V70 with MCC climate control and it seems OK except for low air velocity when in defrost mode. The defrost outlets span the entire width of the dashboard at the base of the windshield. Even at max fan speed, the defrost air velocity is perhaps 1/4 - 1/2 of the defrost air velocity in my 1994 940 wagon. I dont think the defrost air velocity in this V70 will be sufficient to keep the windshield clear when outside air temp is below freezing.

The cabin air inlet filter is new. Air velocity from the dash vents and floor heat outlets is fine when the air control is in the appropriate position. Only the defrost outlet velocity seems low, and it doesnt matter if the MCC is set to recirculate mode or fresh air mode. Is low defrost air velocity normal in these cars ?

Thanks,

Mike
