Bad bevel gear? XC90 2004

I am hearing a pretty loud whirring sound ad speeds above about 30 mph. I recently had both rear bearings replaced (after hearing similar sounds and being told that was the culprit) about 4 months ago. I am a little concerned that the bevel gear might be bad, just because I have heard that is a problem with these cars. What sound, if any, would I be hearing, or what might I notice, if that were the case. I'm hoping maybe I just got a bad wheel bearing that can be replaced under warranty, but I would like to be an informed customer when I visit the mechanic.

Thanks
