Dead Battery V70-XC70 1998

Hi, I recently experienced a dead battery problem with my V70 '98. The battery is the original with 80,000. I purchased the car new from a local dealer. Due to the dead battery I have replaced the battery with a new 5 year battery (VOLVO). When I asked about what kind of warranty came with it I was told that the warranty was for 5 years and that should this battery die on me it would be pro-rated. Which got me to thinking about my old battery. It was not pro-rated and lacked 4 months before the battery is 4 years old. I know it's not much but shouldn't the original battery have been pro-rated? Frankly I am a little disappointed in the life of the original battery. Some years ago I owned a new GLE SAAB. The original battery in that car served me well....going 150,000 miles before a replacement battery was needed.
