Variable Intake - re-attach hose under the intake? 850 1994

1994 Non-Turbo Sedan. Bought it as a beater, but cleaning it up and putting it into service as a 3rd car.

after PCV service, I can't seem to get the hose re-attached to the variable intake-thing. It popped off when I was re-connecting everything and now it's inaccessible. My human arms are not shaped correctly...

I was going to come in underneath, but that's usually pretty bad. Any Advice?
