Diagnosing door lock microswitch V70-XC70 1998

1998 XC70 - If the drivers door is not closed with a lot of force, the interior lights stay on and the door ajar alarm dings. A forum search indicates the problem is the microswitch that is built into the door lock mechanism.

On all doors except the drivers door I can hear a distinct click coming from the microswitch as the door is moved from almost closed to completely closed.

On the drivers door the latch mechanism is well lubricated,. However there is no click from the microswitch when the latch finger is manually moved to the full locked position. Is it possible to see the micro-switch or its actuator without taking the door apart ?

Thanks,

Mike
