Alarm lights not working, seatbelt warning light blink instead 400 1991

I bought a 1991 440DL recently, and I noticed one unfortunate day that the alarm lights don't work. What happens when I push the switch is that the seatbelt warning light starts to flash.

The first reaction was 'uhwhat?' but later on I discovered that the seatbelt warning light and the alarm light and indicators seem to share the same timing relay (the seatbelt light changes blinking speed when I use the indicators). So some wire is loose somewhere I guess. I'll check the fuses when the temperature outside allows me, but any hints are welcome.
