it sound like you need to clean throttle plate. the plate gets carbon on the sides of it and in coold weather it will die on start ups, I would check that first. take of the fresh air intake hose going out of the intake box all you need is a 7mm socket. if it is black and gummy open the throttle and spray some carb cleaner and clean it with a wire brush.
