Re: Pirelli Sidewall Bubble... V70-XC70 2001

Well said Arno.

To add:

I have learned that low profile 17" tires are more susceptible to the "impact breaks" you described and are categorized as a "road hazard" which would then void any sort of warranty claim. AudiWorld has some extensive threads that address a similar problem with the Potenza RE040.

It seems to be a problem with the short sidewalls unable to withstand the shock of everyday driving... especially single-ply sidewall construction.

I know I didn't hit any crater size potholes, curbs, etc... but I suppose driving on "real world" roads here in the US are not the ideal conditions for hi performance rubber. Again, my bubble is only the size of my thumb, where I have read others have bubbles the size of their fist!

I have an appointment this Wednesday to have the tire inspected. I don't know what Pirelli can do for me. I have read that for those who persisted, Bridgestone picked up 50% of the cost of a new RE040. I am however optimistic, & hoping for 100% from Pirelli.
