The fuel pressure regulator is not wired to any computers, it is strictly manual and dependent on vacuum. The lower the vacuum pressure, the higher the fuel pressure which is why you need to look for vacuum leaks.

When the engine is cold, try turning the key to posII several times. It should prime the pressure each time.
