Sport Shift Emergency 850 97

I have searched the archives, but cannot find anyone who has had a problem with the Sport Shift mode on their 850. I have a 97 850R. As anyone who has a T5, I always drive in the Sport Shift mode. However, about a year and a half ago, the trans would automatically kick into the Winter mode as I drove away from a light. Still under warrranty, I took it back and the dealer told me they "replaced a switch" and it worked for the past 18 months. However, the problem has reoccurred. I have taken the car back in and told them the problem has reoccurred, but there is a debate whether Volvo will cover it. They claim to have 1)replaced the switch and 2) put in a new computer, but with no success. Now the tech hotline has told them to look for a short in the wiring. So, the dealer wants to charge me $260 to look for a shorted wire. I do not believe there is a shorted wire and I believe they are groping. Has anyone out there dealt with a problem like this before and know how it was fixed? The car has been at the shop for the past 2 days and nothing has happened, so I need help fast. If anyone can help me provide them with some direction, I would grealy appreciate it.

I used to look at this site quite a bit a year or so ago. Is Yannis still out there? Have you seen this problem before?

Thanks for any help you can give me,

Frank
