Keep it for the reasons stated in the previous posts.

Remember that your lease payments mostly cover the cost of depreciation. So, I'd make sure that the residual ($14,500.) plus the total lease approximates what buying the car at the '96 new car interest rate would have been. Especially if you will be financing the residual.

Whether you take an extended warranty or not, I'd not be shy about negotiating the residual value.
