may purchase a 2002 S40? Any s40 only things i should be aware of? S40-V40

2002 is a good year to go with. There were a few software glitches with the 01 models but those would almost have certainly been worked out years ago with service updates.

My 02 has been great. We bought it new and it has only needed routine maintenance and an O2 sensor that was replaced under warranty years ago. I replace the transmission fluid every 50,000mi because I refuse to believe the trans will last a long time going with a lifetime fill approach. It takes a specific type of fluid. Do not buy the Volvo brand from the dealer as it is too expensive. Mobil makes a JWS 3390 grade transmission fluid.

No harder or easier to work on than any other front wheel drive car.
