V70 AWD brake question V70-XC70 1998

How many times will your car need rear rotors? Are the hubs painted on the Zimmermann rotors, if not they will rust.

You also might want to invest in parking brake shoes, the old ones tend to delaminate.

You will need to loosen the parking brake cable a lot at the center console, and then find the star wheel inside the hub and loosen that a lot before removing the rotor.

Buy a packet of silicone brake grease and use it liberally on the parking brake linkage and the outside of the hub where the wheel touches it.

Buy a can of brake cleaner and clean the parking brake area and the inside of the rotor surface before putting the rotor back on. Then clean the outside of the rotor surface before putting the caliper on.

If you replace the parking brake shoes, use brake cleaner on the shoe surfaces after they are mounted.

Remember to tighten the star wheel until the wheel stops. Then back off 1-2 clicks.
