Here's what to do 850 1994

New plan:

Replace F3
Remove the overload relay "2/31" marked 106 (next to the fuses)
Get your meter set on DC Volts and look at the socket for the relay
there's 4 pins:
Pin 1 +12VDC
Pin 3 to F3 (with 12VDC)

Pin 2 12VDC from ignition switch in RUN position only
Pin 4 Ground

See if Pin 2 has 12 Volts with the ignition switch off
if so , Replace the relay you took out, and the shorted ignition switch.

The ignition switch is the most likely culprit, but it's easy to be sure
with your meter, and not buy $50 parts to do your troubleshooting.

There's an outside chance that the harness is shorted, you did'nt get this problem after playing with nailguns? :-)
