What happened just before you lost your drive?

I drove my '60 SAAB off a curb and lost drive - broken axle!

This was in kinder times - 1964 - Foreign Auto of Lowell MA towed the car, put a junkyard axle in and charged me 30 bucks!

The worst part was a test drive with the owner, Larry Angove, a SAAB rally driver - it was exciting going around an exit ramp in MY car at full throttle - 'This is how to take a corner son ..."
