My local Volvo dealer uses STP octane booster as part of the periodic service. I tried using it with a tank of regular gas but it just doesn't have that lively performance that I get with a tank of good 'ol 92 octane

My car likes it, so I keep using it. $1.37 a gallon where I live in SC. Works for me! I'd be afraid to use any other octane boosters in my car.
