Overheating Fan Relay 850 1996

Just put in a new cooling fan, relay, thermo, coolant temp sensor, and radiator to help the old 850T deal with the awful DC heat. Everything runs great, including now Arctic-grade A/C. Problem is that after a long hwy run, after she's parked in the sun to bake in 100F for a while while I hit COSTCO, the relay seems to overheat and won't trip the fan when I start up again. After she cools down, all is back to normal. I know part of this is the fault of the Swedes putting the relay right over the hot radiator. Anyone had this issue? Solutions? Can't really relo the relay, and I don't want to drill holes in the relay case to just help dirt/water get in...
