Do you have a manual speed switch or do you have climate control? With climate control set on auto the motor speed changes to bring the car temperature to what is set . I believe there are two sensors in the roof near the rear door pillars as well as one in the dash. Are you getting air from all the outlets when you change from floor to upper and also defrost? If not maybe one of air hoses is blowing on the sensor in the dash.
