Heater Air Diverter Vane S70 2000

OK...finally have the car into the dealership to get this problem resolved (hopefully). Have never seen the problem posted here, so maybe it is of some interest. If I put the heater "air direction knob" to the feet position, and put the fan on maximum, I get no air coming out on the floor, it comes out the dash board vents and the defroster vents, but not the floor. I kept fiddling back and forth with the knob, and finally the air came out the floor vents. Then I put the knob to Defrost...and.....the air still went to the floor. Finally, it went back to the original dash vents & defrost vents, and wouldn't go back to the floor. For the first 6 months I owned the car, I just left everything in the "Auto" position, and never noticed that things weren't right. Now it is an obsession!!!!!

Hope they don't have to totally tear apart the dashboard to fix the problem. Anybody know how serious a task this is to fix??

Ed
