code PO171 V70-XC70 2004

I have about 155K on a 2004 V70. I got an engine check light several months ago, but it disappeared before I could check for fault codes. It's back and the only code identified is "PO171". I have googled it and read other sites and the Brickboard, but I do not have a clear picture of where to begin with the 2004(most comments were for earlier cars?).
I have check, there seems to be no backpressure from the crankcase when checked at the dipstick or oil fill cap. The car runs and accelerates smoothly.
I would appreciate any other guidance in chasing the possibilities down to a solution.
