Ball Joint shot at 25,000 miles ! V70-XC70 1998

Time for a oil change and tire rotation so I strike a deal with mechanic friend of mine to do a little PC work for him in exchange for a little work on his part. Anyway he discovers that my right front ball joint is completly worn out (this explains the new vibration and popping noise that has struck in the last week)! This on a car with 25,000 easy miles. Add this to the list of replaced items on a low mileage car that includes transmission, bevel gear, carrier bearing, all the driveshafts, various electrical parts, all the door panels, the rear hatch lock mechanism, the CD player, a couple of dash pieces, the center rear seat belt, and that is just a partial list. I probably have reached the point where I will eat the depreciation and just trade the P.O.S. in. I have had my last Volvo, for life !
