Rear wiper/washer not working V70-XC70 2000

When this first happened, I found the wiper would work if I opened the tailgate. I removed the plastic panel covering the wiring and wiggled the wires. Then it worked after I closed the hatch. Now it does not work, even with the hatch open. I suspect a wiring break due to the opening and closing of the tailgate. Does anyone know a specific location where the problem could be? I would like to keep the fix as simple as possible.
