Brake Calipers 1986

How to change the break calipers on a 1986 Volvo Turbo Diesel. My Dad has 4 volvo, 2 are diesel, and he changed the calipers, but hes never seen 2 brake lines going into 1 caliper. he had a difficult time getting the caliper off and on. Then when he got the new caliper on(after 6 hrs of trying) the brake was siezed. IF you could offer any advice that would be great.
