ELM327 scanner uses - not for everyone

Sorry for the mis-information, the ELM327 is NOT for everyone. Yes, it does use an older PC operating system which I am still using :>) What should one expect from an old and very much copied Chinese marketed product? Especially for less than $20.

It is not 'easy' to use, but the VOL for $200 is also not easy to use. Ask any Volvo mechanic to read the odo on an 850 and most will tell you it is impossible, but with a little dective work - there it is.

The ELM fits in your glove box, with the supplied LAN cable, for handy 'on the road' checking. My hand held scanner is in the trunk, too bulky for the glove box, and the hand held only does basic Pnnnn codes which need careful thought as to what is really wrong.

The dedicated VOLVO scanner is far superior than the ELM, will work on most models, diagnose the computers and reset most everything you would want to reset. It just costs a lot.

I would have prefered the Volvo hand held scanner that the Swedish firm sold a few years back for close to $300. It did EVERYthing, but I was too broke to buy it and now the firm no longer sells it.
