Brake line corrosion

Here is something strange that I have never seen before.

On a 07 xc90 70k

The other other day while working on my 07 xc90 (70K) I noticed the front brake lines were getting corroded.

At the connection where the lines connect to the caliper, there is a rubber sleeve about 2 in long. This was corroded. The rubber was torn as the insides metal was rusted out. I pealed the rubber boot off and the inside metal was all rusted.

I will have to replace both lines, but have never seen anything like it. The car has been driven in the Long Island area in NY. Has anyone else come across this or seen it before.

Here is an image.
