ghost electrical problems V70-XC70

1998 V70 intermittently shuts down. Nothing works when this happens (no hazards, lights, starter, etc., dash goes glitchy with odometer flashing or not at all, only marker lights on doors work), and then some time later (minutes or hours) the car heals itself. Searched online for answers and most indications were that it was positive battery cables (A+ and B+). First renewed battery side B+ cable end. Seemed fixed for a few days. Then problem occurred again. So replaced both A+ and B+ cables with OEM cables. Seemed good for a day, then happened again. Volvo dealer is reluctant to do anything because no code comes up on the analyzer. Don't want to replace computer if not warranted. Friend says to now do the battery grounding cable.
