I don't know if this makes sense, how about pulling the ECM fuse?? I had an issue with my 2001 XC70 over the Thanksgiving break, and one of the Volvo suggestions was to pull the fuse for 20 minutes to 'reset' my driving patterns. It takes about 60-100 miles for the car to relearn how it is driven. Maybe, just maybe you will get better mileage....
