vacuum lines 850 94

Been checking all my vacuum lines and connections on my 94 850 Turbo. There is a component mounted under the battery tray that has 2 tee fittings coming off the front side of it. The top fitting has a hose hooked to each port. One line runs up between the battery and the fender and the other runs toward the rear of the component. The bottom fitting has a hose hooked to one port that runs toward the rear of the component and the other one is open. No cap, no hose. Any one know what the component is and if it is supposed to have one leg of the bottom tee open to the outside world???
