poor heat at idle V70-XC70

Hi friends,
The heat on my 2005 XC70 seems to drop off substantially when the engine drops off to idle. If I'm driving or I rev up the engine I get good heat coming out my vents, but if I stop and the engine is idling the temp of the heating air drops off. It makes it crappy if I go out to start and warm up the car on these cold winter mornings, as the engine heats up but not the car until I start driving.
Is this a design flaw with these models or could I possibly have some air caught in the heater core. (yes of course I've checked the rad and the tank is full). Any other ideas on what this could be or how I can correct this?
Thanks
