2006 xc70 Rad fan constantly running. no heat V70-XC70

Hi..2006 xc70 no heat,temp gauge @ 0, rad fan running constantly. Disconnected violet wire on wiring @ rad and fan stopped running.Replugged wire ,constant running again.Where to go from here.Already purchased thermostat with ECT sensor. NOt sure to replace thermostat as to fan running.. Any help would be appreciated.HAPPY HOLIDAYS.
