Cold weather items

If possible, keep a battery charger plugged in - $30 at Sears.

Fresh 10W30 oil, 5W30 when it is really cold (-0F).

Turn your seat heater off when the car warms up, let the battery recharge.

The tranny fluid will be cold, don't push on the gas pedal real hard until it warms up and shifts easily.

For short trips, keep the tranny in 3rd so the engine oil gets warm.

Check your tire pressures!! A 2psi loss for every 10F drop.

Keep 4 seconds behind the other car, stopping distance is farther with cold rotors.

If you park outside and it is -30F, let it idle for at least 60 seconds before moving.

If your windows start to fog up, crack the driver's window down 1/2 inch.

Try NOT to use your wipers while driving. Clean them off when you get to your destination. Do not use the defrost vents when driving in snow, this will ice up the wipers and collect snow on the windshield. Especially true when temps are in the middle 20Fs or lower. Stay back from the other car/truck to avoid road spray.

Disable those dumb headlight wipers if the headlights are on. They will just break if frozen in place.
