Fan problems? V70-XC70

On both of my FWD/AWD cars, the fan never seems to come on until the motor is really hot [exc when A/C is switched on]. I think these motors are set up to run very hot. That said, I could write a book on all the fan/relay/fusable link issues that I have had with my V70 and 850. The brickboard archive proves it.
