CV axle - priority to fix it? V70-XC70 1998

Here are some nice pictures, just ignore the part where it talks about replacing the boots:

As for using a ratchet, they don't make them like they used to! Get a breaker bar with a 1/2inch end to loosen and stretch the nuts. 18-24 inches should do the trick.

A 'puller' is not needed to remove the passenger side, just pull it out of the tranny. The driver's side is held with a circlip and a pry bar will be needed. I suggest also getting a new axle seal, OEM only.

I also suggest getting remanned axles from Raxles.com Reasonably priced and they will fit properly the first time. You do have to call them and not order online.

There are some videos that show the strut being removed. If you do that unneeded work, remember that you will have to get the front end aligned! I suggest leaving the strut in place.
