Early S40s did have all sorts of problems.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Volvos. They are safe but they also take a lot of TLC. I went on our local Craigslist and on the first page found this:

Not bad for a reasonably safe teen car. The price is right. Probably has 200K miles on it, who knows. I just show it so you keep your options open.
