Good luck! I've had the same problem on my 1994 850T since it was about a year old. Neither the dealer nor an independent shop was ever able to find the problem, and I've ignored it the past few years. My timing belt and accessory belt have been changed, but the moan is still there. I'm beginning to think it's an air intake leak that's only evident when it's cold. It's exactly the same sound after 6 years, so I doubt that it's anything mechanical.
