Ticking Engine Noise

Minor lifter noise at start up will not hurt the engine. Because you are in Texas, I suggest migrating to 10W30, as that should help the oil pressure build faster and keep the ticking to a minimum.

You should not need any oil additive, ever. Unless you buy a USA car with large displacement, low rpms, and push rods.
