The revised N engines story is complex.

1. 99 s80 2.9 engine gets the light crank, rods, pistons, and CVVT on intake. Turbo motors get CVVT on exhaust. All but 2.4 non-turbo 5 get oil coolers on side of oil pans in place or radiator coolers.

2. 2000 model brings new block casting for all with piston oil cooler jets integrated into block instead of earlier method of having oil jets insert from outside block. Water flow is revised inside engine for cooler heads. The 5 cyl non-T motor gets the low mass, low friction crank-rods-pistons a la 99 s80 2.9 and it gets intake CVVT a la 99 s80 2.9 motor. 5 cyl non-t gets piston oil cooling to make that 100% on the range. S-V 40 4 cyl introduced into this market. Ditto on it's new block but with "heavy" lower end parts. Turbo motors gets new lower friction rings (started on 99 s80 2.9)

3. 2001 Low pressure turbo applications get the lower mass crank-rods-pistons deal. 40 series too.

the high pressure turbo engines remain with the "heavy" lower end pieces. T-6 s80 and T-5 s60 and v70, and C70's with high press turbo engines.
